Questions?

Who is eligible to attend?

All current HOSA members (middle school, high school, and postsecondary/collegiate) in good standing are welcome to attend, event if they do not plan to compete. Breakout sessions and additional conference activities run throughout the duration of the conference, so there are plenty of options. Additionally, there are opportunities for partners and volunteers to get involved through the expo, breakout sessions, competitive event judging, and sponsorships.

Does an advisor need to attend SLC with chapter members?

Yes! Each school is responsible for providing an advisor and/or chaperones to attend with members. These adults are responsible for members' safety and conduct at State Leadership Conference. The ratio of students to adult chaperones should be no greater than 16:1.

What is the cost to attend?

The cost per member and advisor is $40. This cost includes competitive events, educational sessions, speakers, tours, and more. T-shirts and lunches are additional charges of $20/shirt and $15/lunch. Additional costs may include travel expenses and clothing to meet the dress code.

What are important deadlines?

January 30th Deadline

February 20th Deadline

What is the dress code?

For Nebraska HOSA SLC, the Dress Code for Opening & Closing Sessions and for Competitive Events is Business Attire (suit not required) or Official Uniforms, unless the Competitive Event Guidelines identify a clinical uniform or attire as appropriate for that event. For all other SLC activities (i.e. Expo, breakout sessions), the Dress Code is Business Casual. No ripped jeans, sweats, crop tops, flip flops, inappropriate graphics, shorts, or short skirts are allowed during SLC activities.

How many Competitive Events can I compete in?

The HOSA Competitive Event Program is an exciting part of the annual State Leadership Conference. Competition is open to all active members registered for the HOSA State Leadership Conference. Each member may compete in:

  • One event that is completed prior to SLC (most events in this category are test-only events)
  • One event that has an in-person component at SLC (including clinical skill, debate, presentation, project, and speech events)
  • HOSA Bowl (limit two, four-person teams per chapter)
  • ATC/Nat Geo tests - unlimited (first test is included in registration, additional tests are $10 each)
  • Recognition Events - unlimited

More information can be found on the Nebraska Competitive Event Characteristics spreadsheet.

Requirements

  • Students must be HOSA members in order to register for the event.
  • Each chapter must have an advisor or school-approved chaperone attend with their students.
  • Due to legal restrictions, all delegates, guests, and HOSA advisors must complete the following forms to be eligible to attend any NE HOSA Experiences or Conferences. These forms do NOT need to be submitted to HOSA, but HOSA will need to be informed if there are parents of students who do not want photos/names released in HOSA publications. The chapter advisor or chaperone should have access to these completed forms when their chapter attends any event.
  • Changes to registration can be made prior to registration closing. After closing, cancellations/refunds are not permitted, but substitutions are allowed. Late registrations may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Following the close of registration, invoices will be send to chapter advisors via Nebraska HOSA's Quickbooks account.
